Ferdinand da Gama was a wizard whose portrait was hung on the Grand Staircase beside the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom. He once admitted that staying near it scared him, but then he supposed it was okay because they only taught defence, not the Dark Arts itself.[2]
Biography[]
He asked a student if they knew of a place with a good position and view. He had arrived at Hogwarts not long previously, and believed that a good location was everything. He also liked to offer his help to students passing, asking if they were lost or late to class.[2]
At one point in the 21st century, his portrait ended up at the bottom of the Great Lake, with him having no idea of how he got there, and with barnacles using him as their dwelling place.[3]
