The festival grounds was an area near the all-wizarding village of Hogsmeade during the 1980s and 1990s where festivals, carnivals, and other forms of entertainment were held.[1]

History[]

Boggart attack[]

Bilton Bilmes getting attacked by the Boggart

During the 1986–1987 school year, a Boggart was loose on the grounds of Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade, sparking fears that Lord Voldemort had returned due to how much wizardkind feared him. Jacob's sibling realised that it was a Boggart and not the Dark wizard himself, and tracked the Boggart down to the festival grounds, where it had changed into the shape of a Dementor and started attacking Bilton Bilmes. When Jacob's sibling confronted the Boggart at the festival grounds, it changed into Lord Voldemort once again and duelled with Jacob's sibling, but was defeated by the student.[2]

Hogsmeade Festival[]

Madam Rosmerta's stall sabotaged at the festival

During the 1987–1988 school year, the residents of Hogsmeade organised a festival at the festival grounds to show off and sell their wares. However the festival was sabotaged by Ismelda Murk, though initially the culprit was unknown. The blame for the sabotage was placed on Bilton Bilmes, as his stall was the only one that was undamaged. However, Jacob's sibling, Penny Haywood, Ben Copper, Merula Snyde, and Andre Egwu eventually uncovered Ismelda as the culprit. Ismelda explained that she had sabotaged the festival so that her sister, Annalena Gleam, wouldn't get the promotion at work that she was promised if the festival went smoothly. After reuniting the two sisters and having Ismelda apologise to the residents of Hogsmeade, Jacob's sibling helped repair the stalls and, as thanks, was given a miniature fireworks display by the residents of Hogsmeade.[3]

Summer Nights dance festival[]

During the 1988–1989 school year, Madam Rosmerta organised a planning committee to plan a Summer Nights dance festival, which she wanted to make an annual tradition. The theme of the night was intended to be a secret that the attendees would have to guess, however this created confusion amongst the planning committee itself. Jacob's sibling managed to decipher the clues and figured out that the planning committee were in disarray and managed to help organise the planning committee, which helped avoid the festival being called off altogether.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

  • The festival grounds is where the in-game carnival event is held, where the residents of Hogsmeade hold stalls in which the player can earn tickets for completing minigames.
