Mistakes[]
- In Chapter 4, Barnaby mentions the portrait of Armando Dippet when listing individuals in the Headmaster's Office. However, as Year 7 is set before 1992, Armando Dippet is still alive and as such, should not typically have a portrait in the Headmaster's Office yet, although an exception may have been made in this case.
- In Chapter 6, Mad-Eye Moody would say registering wands is the player's first task in the Ministry of Magic student programme, even though they've already done two in Chapter 5.
- In the Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson in Chapter 20, Bill Weasley brings in a live Manticore in Classroom 3C to present to students in one of his evening extracurricular Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. This appears to be extremely odd for a few reasons; the Manticore is an extremely dangerous beast known to devour humans with a lethal sting, making it very implausible that Bill would have been able (or allowed for that matter) to have brought one into Hogwarts Castle (a place full of humans), and secondly, Jacob's sibling is able to subdue it with a simple defensive spell, despite it clearly saying in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that its skin can repel all known charms.
- The plural of doxy, which is "doxies", is misspelt in the Chapter 21 assignment as "Doxys".
- In the Chapter 28 assignment "Rivalry and Revelry", a Quidditch player for the Appleby Arrows is wearing a Gryffindor Quidditch uniform.
- In Chapter 58, the player meets Quirinus Quirrell again, and the way they greet each other implies the player wasn't Quirrell's Muggle Studies student. However, this cannot be true, as the player is shown attending Muggle Studies in this year, which means they must've started the class from their third year when Quirrell was teaching. However, it is possible that Quirrell did not remember them well.
