Finnigan is the surname of an Irish Muggle family, though they now have some magical blood, since one family member married a witch; their son Seamus is also a wizard.[1]
Known Family Members
- Seamus Finnigan — a Gryffindor student in Harry Potter's year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and member of Dumbledore's Army
- Mr. Finnigan — a Muggle who was shocked to learn that his wife was a witch shortly after their marriage; Seamus' father
- Mrs. Finnigan — a witch and Seamus' mother
Etymology
Finnigan is a fairly common Irish surname. Finnigen's Wake is a popular comedic Irish ballad, as well as the basis for the title of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake.
