The Fire Crab posessed a heavily jewelled, multicoloured shell. There were different variants of Fire Crab and they could be identified by the type of jewels in their shells. Noted variants included shells fitted with rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.[2]
A reservation had been created to protect Fire Crabs from Muggles who would value the jewelled shell, as well as wizards who would use the shells as cauldrons.[1]
