Fireflies are small winged insects, that are able to light up a dark area.
History[]
They were found near bodies of water in the Scottish Highlands at the end of the 19th century.[2] A magical variety was used in the German wizarding prison, Erkstag, and the Brazilian wizarding pub, Cobra Encan, to light lamps.[1] They could be found in the Forbidden Forest[3] and at the highest point of the Dungeons of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Firefly Room.[4]
