Flint was the surname of a pure-blood wizarding family, and one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.[1] They were related to the Black, Burke, Gamp, Bulstrode and Yaxley families, as well as the Muggle Hitchens family.[2] Many other notable families descend from this lineage or are distantly related.

Etymology
Flint is a type of hard sedimentary rock, often used for tools in the Stone Age and to make fire, since it produces sparks when struck.
