"I do enjoy a view. Nebulus."
Albus Dumbledore casting this spell over London[src]

The Fogging Spell[3] (Nebulus)[1] was a charm[2] that conjured fog from the tip of the wand.[4]

History[]

In 1927, Albus Dumbledore used this spell to conjure a fog in London whilst standing on top of St Paul's Cathedral to provide concealment for his meeting with Newt Scamander.[1]

In the 1980s and early 1990s at Hogwarts, this spell was commonly used by students in the Duelling Club.[2]

Prior to the 2010–2011 school year, Colby Frey managed to learn this spell after many attempts. Fearing that his brother, Fischer, would catch him reading poetry in the Hogwarts Library, as Fischer believed that "reading was for prats," Colby used the spell to hide himself in a cloud of fog. Upon learning of the fog from Kevin Farrell, a student used the Windy Spell to blow away the fog before it could damage the books, angering Colby. After a brief confrontation, Colby explained the situation, claiming that the spell was also good for ambushing before threatening them if they told Fischer about what had happened.[5]
