The Forest Lake was a lake in the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[1]
History[]
The cavern known as Jackdaw's Tomb was located near this lake.[2]
The centaur colony in the Forbidden Forest often came to this lake to draw water.[1]
Near the end of the 1987–1988 school year, a forest troll began foraging near the lake for bubotubers to eat after its usual source in a nearby clearing was trampled by sleepwalking students affected by the curse of the Forest Vault. The troll aggressively drove off anyone coming near it, preventing the centaurs from safely accessing their main water supply. Jacob's sibling, and Charlie Weasley went to the lake to investigate the source of the disturbance, after the centaur Torvus tasked them with dealing with the situation. The students and Liz Tuttle solved the problem by using dragon dung fertiliser and the Herbivicus Charm to quickly establish a new crop of bubotubers in the clearing. Jacob's sibling then used a bubotuber to lure the troll away from the lake, just as an angry centaur was about to fight it due to the threat it posed to the colony.[1]
During the 1989–1990 school year, Jacob's sibling and MACUSA employee Holly Blackbird travelled to the Forest Lake as it was the centre of a storm created by an agitated Thunderbird. At the lake shore, they found the wizard Todd Cribb provoking the Thunderbird with Metelojinx so he could collect its feathers. Jacob's sibling defeated Cribb in a duel and Blackbird arrested him.[3]
