Hi Folks! I was wondering if it would make sense to start an article series about the differences between the books and the films.
-chapters in the book missing in the film
-different chapters in the book mixed in the film
-scenes in the film with no reference in the book (or widely altered)
-differences in the time line
-differences in dialogue
-etc

- Hmm, although it does seem like a good idea, a lot of that info is already on the individual articles on the movies, e.g. on the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (film) article, there's a section on "Differences Between the Novel and Film". Also, the page you are wanting to create seems more like it would be a list, not so much an article. Margiechocoholic

- You are right about the section in the film-articel. And you are right about it being little more than a list. But it would be a possibility to give the 'differences' more structure and even more details could be added without making it jam-packed. And finally it could shorten the rather lengthy film-article. We have a forum currently going on about changes to the book and movie articles. The proposals generally would improve the quality and uniformity of the articles with more structure. --JKoch

- I think there's no point in comparing the books and movies. Books and movies are completely different in how they're made and how they work. Books are books. Movies are movies. And I think both the Harry Potter books and movies are great.
- An article comparing the books and the movies and showing the alterations made in the transition between the two media wouldn't need to criticize either one, or suggest that one medium is better than the other. I agree with the editors above that a well-structured article noting the changes in a systematic form would be a good addition to the wiki. (Indeed, it's exactly the sort of thing that a fan wiki like this can do, and Wikipedia can't.) —Josiah Rowe 07:31, November 25, 2010 (UTC)
