I thought the reductor spell "reduced" an object to it's base elements. Like ginny did to the target dummy in the Room of Requirement and I'm assuming it's what Dumbledore used to turn the flying shards of glass Voldemort threw at him in the Ministry of Magic into sand. I think if used on a human it could do some serious damage.

Forums: Index > The Wizengamot > Can the Reductor Curse kill people? this curse shatters objects into pieces. And if so, why is it not an unforgivable? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

You can't use it on a human, but it can be lethal in certain conditions. If you sit under something heavy and somebody casts the reductor curse , the object will explode and you will probably get really hurt. Ronweasleypwns
I am left with the impression (maybe wrong) that many spells can kill you. For example, when professor McGonagall was attacked by the Aurors with stunning spell and she almost died, but this spell is not unforgivable. Vengerer 11:44, January 28, 2010 (UTC)
McGonagall was hit by four stunners simultaneously to the chest, at her age that could inflict serious damage, but I doubt kill her. Anyway, no, the Reductor curse cannot kill you as it cannot be used against a person. --Hcoknhoj 15:05, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

I believe It can kill you only for the reason we see other spells kill certain people for instance, Molly Weasley killing Bellatrix with an unknown spell (not a killing curse). --Profiteor 01:09, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Ofcourse, it can. You're in a house. "Reducto!" The roof falls. R.I.P. you. Ninjakai6478 (talk) 07:20, March 24, 2018 (UTC)

Whether or not "Reducto" is lethal is unknown; however, it can be used on humans. Ginny Weasly used the "Reducto" charm on a Deatheater during the battle of the Department of Mysteries.
