I remember Dumbledore saying that Harry could've used the deathly hallows to beat Voldemort, but that he wanted Harry to destroy the horcruxes instead. I think you may have misunderstood. Dumbledore was worried that Harrys desire to posses the Hallows would distract him from his hunt for the Horcruxes. I don't think he ever intended Harry to use them against Voldmeort, and I don't think that Harry could have. Obviously the Elder Wands allegiance to Harry was the main reason Voldemort was killed, but the Hallows united aren't a weapon, and as Dumbledore said they don't really make you immortal because the true master of death is he who accepts mortality like Harry, rather than he who chases immortality like Voldemort. I agree with Jayden Matthews. That is why Dumbledore didn't explain the Hallows directly to Harry, in the fear he would run off on a quest to find them. And he couldn't defeat Voldemort with the Hallows without destroying the Horcruxes first, that was why Hermione talked him out of trying to unite the Hallows. Moonys Girl 21:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
I also agree with Jayden Matthews. But I dont think that Dumbledore didnt explain them to Harry to stop him going off on a quest to find them, I think he just ran out of time to tell him everything so started with the more important bit first.
