Hi there

I have one of the 3000 limited edition sets of the HP Stage To Screen Collection (rrp $1000, see Amazon). It has a lot of content that may be of use to the wiki.

For instance, one of the books is a collection of the portraits used in the movies, which identify a large number of Headmasters/Headmistresses among others. Other notable points from that book: for some of the adapted portraits of historical figures associated with witchcraft (Anne Boleyn, James I), they take pains to explain the portrait is "based on," not of the historical person, and in some cases they give alternative names for the people. (Which, by the way, has blitzed several of my fanfics which refer to Anne Boleyn as a Malfoy ancestor - her family held the earldom of Wiltshire, and she had French connections as well, so she fitted in very nicely. But I'm not bitter. Much).

Other books include a collection from the graphic art department (advertisements, Daily Prophets, foods, games and similar), a collection of concept art, and various other things that might be of use.

I don't have time to write all this up direct to the wiki, but I would be willing to upload scans or photos of pages I think may be of special interest to an FTP server, for someone to download and work with. It will still be a bit of work, so I wanted to check it wasn't already available through other contributors or already being worked on somehow.

Let me know, and if you want it, I'll do it.

Cheers - Deslea

It sounds like a true treasure trove of material. Sure, go ahead and upload the scans! ProfessorTofty (talk) 14:09, February 9, 2013 (UTC)
That would be most welcome! Thanks a lot for offering us your help! --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 16:15, February 9, 2013 (UTC)
No problem! They're in zip files at (link removed - monthly bandwidth exhausted, can re-add later if anyone needs it) - please let me know when a couple of you have them, as I'll need to lock them down after that to avoid them being downloaded by people who are just browsing/curious (I don't have the bandwidth for that). If there is a particular picture that's unclear and you'd like a clearer copy, just ask. There are a few doubles and blurred pics in the mix, but not many.
A Guide To The Graphics Arts Department Part 1 - 573MB*
Now divided more-or-less evenly into Part 1, 2, 3, 4
186 items, main use is illustrations and maybe fleshing out some of the tiny details. For instance, many Quibblers and Prophets, pictures of things like the Sneakoscope, some concept art, some character accessories (eg, a picture of Umbridge's umbrella cat handle).
A Guide To The Graphics Arts Department Part 2 - 707MB*
Now divided more-or-less evenly into Part 5, 6, 7, 8
222 items, as above. Includes Muggle Born Registration Commission documents for a lot of characters (not only Muggle-borns - includes Purebloods and half-bloods with "unacceptable Muggle-born sympathies," and in some cases identifies people as known members of the Order. Could be useful for articles about what intelligence the Death Eaters and the Ministry had).
* Note for cross-referencing purposes that I messed up the sorting of this folder - some of the content is from a separate book in the collection called Movie Magic. However, the content is similar across the two.
Environments Envisaged - 245MB
91 items, mostly concept art of locations and scenes. A few blurbs, but not much text-based information of use for the wiki. Might be useful for picture references though.
Harry Potter Page To Screen - 294MB
105 items. This one's a mixed bag - character pics, concept art (including a fabulous/uber-creepy one of maimed-Voldemort suckling from Nagini), outtake moments, wardrobe, wands for major and minor characters, locations.
Ten Years Later - 536MB
Now divided more-or-less evenly into Part 1, 2, 3, 4
183 items. A lot of this is just character pics, outtakes, pics from cut scenes, and publicity shots that will already be familiar, but there are a few titbits through the text about, for instance, why some wardrobe decisions were made (character interpretations). To be honest, this one's probably more for interest than Wiki value, but you're welcome to it.
The Creative Shop Companion - 15MB
5 items. Just a couple of concept art bits - cornish pixies, dementors, thestrals. I didn't take much from this book because I doubted it would be of much use - it's mainly animals and magical creatures and plants. Happy to do some more from it if you want them though,
The Paintings of Hogwarts - 238MB
91 items. This one is really useful - lots of quality close-ups of Hogwarts portraits, often with identifying information, birth/death years, and multiple paintings for some characters. (For instance, you might have a young Professor Whatever and then an older one of her as Headmistress).
Wizard Wear and Muggle Attire - 339MB
121 items. This one is pretty nifty. There's a lot of talk about characters and character arcs and how that played out in wardrobe choices, and concept art for some characters who never made it to film (eg Peeves). There's probably only so much you can do with this one for Wiki purposes, but still worth a look.
Enjoy!
WOW, that's a great treasure. I must say I am excited what we can see here in the next time.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 17:28, February 11, 2013 (UTC)
I am speechless, really. THIS IS SO WONDERFUL! As one Potter enthusiast to another, and I think I can speak for all of us: thank you most heartily! --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 18:14, February 11, 2013 (UTC)
This is absolutely wonderful, thank you! I am going to go ahead and start downloading on it now. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:31, February 11, 2013 (UTC)
I came here to thank you for this, but it seems that the previous three contributors have all stolen my vocabulary. Thank you, though, so much for this. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 22:12, February 11, 2013 (UTC)
You're all most welcome! It's silly to spend so much and then only one or two people get to see it, IMO. And I draw on the wiki so much for continuity for my writing. So it's all good. -- Deslea

I'd also like to add a note of appreciation. :) Starstuff (Owl me!) 10:25, February 12, 2013 (UTC)

Hunnie Bunn and I haven' been able to download any of the larger files-- the download keeps getting cut off before it completes. Is there any way you could further compress or split the files, perhaps using a file splitting tool? I've tried everything I can think of, and I still can't get either of the Guide to the Graphics Art Department files, or the Ten Years Later. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:26, February 12, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry I haven't replied sooner - I was overseas for a few days. I've split them now. Hopefully that will work better! - Deslea
Thanks much! I will give it another shot. ProfessorTofty (talk) 02:56, February 23, 2013 (UTC)`
Thanks so much! I downloaded the files, but part 1 and part 2 of graphic arts won't open- it says "unexpected end of archive" is it possible to reupload them? I am particularly intrested in the graphics stuff. again, thank you so much. Decat (talk) 09:10, February 23, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, that's fine. Just to clarify, Parts 1 and 2 don't work, but Parts 1a and 2a do? - Deslea
Yeah, I'm still having issues as well. I guess it's just that the individual files are still so large. I was able to get Ten Years Later Pt 2 last night, but everything else I tried still failed before the end of the download. If it would be possible to get each individual file down to, say, no more than 150-200 MB, I think that would really help to guarantee that there would be no more chance of the download being cut off. ProfessorTofty (talk) 15:59, February 23, 2013 (UTC)
the files are damaged, i cant open any of the files, can somebody help me please? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DafneVignani (talkcontribs).
I'm sorry DafneVigani, these downloads are for active contributors to the Wiki only. Please do not download these files. - Deslea
Did you read any of the stuff posted above your message? ProfessorTofty (talk) 21:39, February 23, 2013 (UTC)
to clarify: Parts 1 and 2 don't work, but Parts 1a and 2a do. everthing else works for me, it's just those two files that have issues. hope this can be sorted out soon! Decat (talk) 01:31, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
I just tried downloading the two files with chrome, and they worked! so for other people having trouble, try using different browsers. Decat (talk) 02:40, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
Worth a shot. I don't have Chrome installed, but I suppose it wouldn't be that difficult to do. I've managed to get the Graphic Arts Department 1a and all of the other files, but not the rest of that one yet. ProfessorTofty (talk) 02:56, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
I've uploaded Graphic Arts Department in eight parts now, and Ten Years Later in four. Hopefully that should do it. To clarify, for Graphic Arts, Parts 1 & 2 correlate to the former Part 1, Parts 3 & 4 to Part 1a, Parts 5 & 6 to Part 2, Parts 7 & 8 to Part 2a. So if you got Part 1a before, you don't need Parts 3 & 4, and so on. Same with Ten Years Later - Parts 1 & 2 = former Part 1, Parts 3 & 4 = former Part 2.
Also, Opera browser supports resuming downloads that have broken from a dropped connection. You just go to Downloads, right-click, and hit Resume.
Deslea, would it be possible to get clear pictures of the first page of crests? it's a bit blurry, and could be very useful. specifically the two beauxbatons crests and the black family crest. any more book covers would be good, too- there seems to be gap from letters Q to S, I think there might be another page? Decat (talk) 03:52, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
Sure, this is done. The zip is called Decat Requests. There were a couple more pages of books. -- Deslea
Okay, I have completed my downloads. Since, as far as I know, Hunnie Bunn has completed his downloads and everybody else that wanted these that's a regular here already got them, I am probably going to remove the links soon. Decat, please post here once you have downloaded the requests item, and if there's anyone else that's a regular who still needs to download, do it now/speak now or forever hold your piece. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:40, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I've done all my downloads. Thank you so much Deslea for providing this for us! :) Don't forget: Elvendork! (It's unisex!) 20:44, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
Downloaded! thank you so so much! there is so much in that set that would never make it onto the Wiki without generous people like you! thank you!! there scans on the RPF (replica prop forum) as well, if the member who posted them dosen't mind, I'll add things from those as well- I did point the RPF members here as well, so we should all help each other. feel free to remove your links now I've downloaded everything.
