Can anyone explain this to me? Why could he do that when he was relaxed? Why was he the first one to realize the connection?? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

"On the night Lord Voldemort went to Godric's Hollow to kill Harry, and Lily Potter cast herself between them, the curse rebounded. When that happened, a part of Voldemort's soul lached itself onto the only living thing it could find. Harry himself. There's a reason Harry can speak with snakes. There's a reason he can look into Lord Voldemort's mind. A part of Voldemort lives inside him." - Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Part of Voldemort's soul was transferred into Harry when he tried to kill him. Voldemort's was weakened throughout the first four books, so he didn't notice then, likewise to Harry, who was maybe 'too young' to notice any of these connections. Dumbledore may have known, but chose not to tell Harrt in his youth.

Lord Voldemort eventually did figure it out when Harry witnessed him attacking Arthur Weasley, but Voldemort didn't realize at first because there is usually no part of Harry within Voldemort. Icecreamdif (talk) 03:57, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
It didn't take long for Voldemort to witness the innate connection between their two souls. However this does not mean anything other than that the Dark Lord was arragant. Tom thought that being the master of legimency and occlumency that he didn't need to shield his thoughts, proving that he really should've marked Harry as his equal. 10:07, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
