Fracto Strata was the incantation of a simple "zap"-type spell which could break weak objects into pieces. It was a beginner level spell and was thus known by almost all wizards and witches.

Etymology

Fracto Strata may come from the Latin fractus, meaning broken, and stratus, meaning spread out or covered.

Behind the scenes

• Fracto Strata appears in the LEGO Harry Potter video games as a basic offensive/destructive spell. Its name is never given in-game, as the spell is inherently known by all wizards and not learned in a class. However, the file BOLTTYPES.txt within the game files of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 gives its incantation (somewhat confusingly claiming it's given in-game).
