Frog Spawn Soap was a magical joke product that was sold by Zonko's Joke Shop.[1] It caused frogs to spawn in water.[3]
History[]
During the 1986–1987 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, after a Flying class, Nymphadora Tonks expressed that the first thing she planned to do when going to Hogsmeade, was to buy the Frog Spawn Soap, then later slip it into the girls' bathroom.[2] In the beginning of a Herbology class, a third year complained about trying to wash that morning, only to have the soap being full of tadpoles,[4] most likely the result of Tonks's promised prank.
During the 1988–1989 school year, Jacob's sibling placed some Frog Spawn Soap into the bath in the Prefects' Bathroom, in order to appease Peeves by unleashing various forms of chaos upon the school, so he would give them the Vault portrait. This individual act of chaos caused the bathroom to become full of frogs.[3]
In the 1990–1991 school year, the wizarding prankster Willy Widdershins sold an unsuspecting Muggle man some Frog Spawn Soap, which the British Ministry of Magic had to investigate. Alastor Moody erased the man's memory of the incident following questioning.[5]
Ron Weasley and Harry Potter purchased some on a trip to Hogsmeade in 1994.[1]
