Gabbey was a house-elf and the assistant of Yubert Thorne, a Hogsmeade resident who owned the shop Bewildering Blooms, during the early 21st century.

Biography

At some point in the 2010–2011 school year, when Slytherin student Cassandra Vole visited Bewildering Blooms, Yubert told her that Gabbey the house-elf could help her.

That day, when Daniel Page and his friend went to the shop, Gabbey was still there behind her master.

Later in the same school year, Daniel's friend went to see Gabbey at Bewildering Blooms for seeds and sundries during their research into the path of a Herbologist. Gabbey subsequently sold the student Fanged Geranium seeds.

As Bewildering Blooms made its name in Hogsmeade, Gabbey often found herself facing difficult bulk purchase orders for plants, both magical and mundane. Eventually, Daniel's friend lent their hands to help the elf. It was around this point that Gabbey purchased plants from shop visitors in demand at a high price.

Gabbey continued to work for the shop after her master was arrested and imprisoned in Azkaban for his attempt at revenge for the defeat of Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters in the Battle of Hogwarts through the Mysterious Malady.

Physical description

As a house-elf, Gabbey was much shorter in stature than humans, had a long pencil-like nose, and a pair of bat-like ears. She also had large yellow eyes, wore a green cloth piece (likely a pillow case) and a green servant coif, and carried a bag of herbs.

• Herbology: Working in a plant shop belonging to her master, Gabbey had to be quite skilful in Herbology to help the customers.
• House-elf magic: As Gabbey was a house-elf, she was able to cast magic that was far more powerful than wizards could cast.
• Marketing: Gabbey required a certain amount of marketing skills to handle a shop, convince customers, bargain price, and purchase plants from visitors.

Etymology

Gabbey is a feminine name which means "god is my strength". In term of numerology, people with the name Gabbey are believed to be generous, kindhearted, humane, and philanthropic.
