The Gargoyle Gate was a passage at Hogwarts Castle, connecting the main grounds with a small forest section.[1] Later, another door was added which leads elsewhere.[2]
Description[]
The gate was on a small paved courtyard, and it was comprised of big wooden double doors flanked by two columns topped with winged gargoyles shaped like boars, leading to the Hogwarts Puffskein Patch.[1]
History[]
1991[]
In 1991, Quirinus Quirrell bewitched one of the gargoyles at this gate to attack Harry Potter. Harry, however, managed to defeat it and render it immobile once more with the Knockback Jinx.[1]
1992[]
In 1992, Harry and Ronald Weasley ran through here through two different doors to meet outside Rubeus Hagrid's hut.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- The Gargoyle Gate bears a resemblance to the Entrance Gates, but they are different structures.
- In the PS1 video game adaption of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets a new door is added and the gargoyles are removed. The player can actually try and pass through the door, but it will simply lead the player right back to the Gargoyle Gate, as the Hogwarts Puffskein Patch no longer exists.
