When Grindelwald, during a rally in the Lestrange family Mausoleum, conjured a circle of protective fire around himself, and added an enchantment designed to test the loyalty of his followers: those who entered with complete fidelity and believed in his cause would survive; those who did not, would be engulfed and perish. Krafft, Nagel, MacDuff, Carrow, Abernathy, Vinda Rosier, Credence Barebone, Queenie Goldstein and several Aurors who had initially been under the command of Theseus Scamander passed through unharmed, but Krall, who had had second thoughts, died in fire.
