This Giant Squid lived in the Magical Creatures Reserve in the 1980s and 1990s.

Biography

During the 1980s or 1990s, this Giant Squid lived in the Open Oceans in the Magical Creatures Reserve, and Jacob's sibling would often bond with and feed this Giant Squid.

At some point, the British Ministry of Magic research wing discovered an ancient artefact located within a sunken wreck at the bottom of the North Sea. They contacted Jacob's sibling for help and requested the aid of this Giant Squid in guarding the artefact. Jacob's sibling agreed and sent the squid to the sunken ship in order to guard the artefact whilst the research wing's Recovery Team arrived. Whilst there, the Giant Squid had to defend the artefact from a group of divers who were attempting to retrieve the artefact for themselves. The Recovery Team managed to successfully retrieve the artefact and the Giant Squid returned to the Magical Creatures Reserve.

During the 1986–1987 school year, this Giant Squid was highly distressed, and began spraying ink everywhere. Rubeus Hagrid didn't know what was causing this, so he called in Jacob's sibling for advice. Jacob's sibling initially tried feeding the Giant Squid toast, however that only calmed it down temporarily. Confused, Jacob's sibling started to research Giant Squids and found that they behaved erratically when they didn't have a good underwater nest. This caused them to investigate under the water and help the Giant Squid pick out an underwater nest. However, the Giant Squid was scared off by a strange loud noise.

Jacob's sibling talked to Professor Silvanus Kettleburn about scared Giant Squids, and Kettleburn relayed a story from when he went on an academic expedition and encountered a scared Giant Squid. Kettleburn advised Jacob's sibling that Giant Squids were highly territorial and would likely become aggressive quickly of their territory was threatened. After investigating underwater further, Jacob's sibling realised that the sea serpent at the Magical Creatures Reserve was regularly travelling through the kelp forest, which was scaring the Giant Squid. Jacob's sibling then cast the Imperturbable Charm on the kelp forest so that the Giant Squid wouldn't be disturbed, which fixed the problem. Afterwards, the Giant Squid hugged Jacob's sibling as thanks.

• The Giant Squid's name, just like all creatures in the Magical Creatures Reserve, can be customised by the player. The dialogue of the quest will subsequently change according to the name determined by the player.
