This Giant Stone Hand was a mysterious magical artefact of unknown origins and function,[1] that had been for sale at Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley for several years[1] by the early 1990s.[3]
History[]
At first glance, its surface showed no obvious chisel marks, suggesting it was crafted by magical means, though any attempt to ascertain its origin have proven unsuccessful. It resonated with magical energy, but the exact nature of that energy remains unknown.[1]
During the 1993–1994 school year, Remus Lupin kept this artefact in Classroom 3C whilst he worked as the professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[2]
In October 2020, during the Calamity, the Giant Stone Hand appeared as a Foundable. Volunteer members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force were able to return it to the shop.[1]
