A goblin pie was supposedly a pie made from the flesh of goblins. According to The Quibbler, specifically the article How Far Will Fudge Go To Gain Gringotts?, Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge allegedly baked many goblins into pies, among other various forms of murder, in a ploy to gain control of the gold in Gringotts Wizarding Bank. The veracity of this is questionable, however, like most things published in The Quibbler.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- This method of murder is reminiscent of the plot of the 1979 musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, based on the 1847 penny dreadful The String of Pearls. Incidentally, several Harry Potter actors took part in the 2007 film adaptation of this story: Helena Bonham Carter played Mrs Lovett, Alan Rickman played Judge Turpin, Timothy Spall played Beadle Bamford, Jamie Campbell Bower played Anthony, and Harry Taylor cameoed in a photograph depicting Mrs Lovett's late husband Albert.
