A grape is a fruit that grows on woody vines of the genus Vitis.[3] Wine is typically made of fermented grape juice. A raisin is a dried grape.
History[]
On 12 February 1883, the Daily Prophet ran a story about Quidditch changing to hoops instead of baskets noting that a team in Barnton had attached such little baskets to the opposing team's posts that you couldn't even get a grape in them.[4]
Grapes were served at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[1]
When Colin Creevey was found petrified by the Basilisk in 1992 , there was a bunch of grapes beside him, presumably indicating he took a snack with him when he tried to sneak into the Hospital Wing to get a picture of Harry Potter.[5]
When Draco Malfoy was telling what humiliating poems he was going to write about Ron, Angelina Johnson told him to talk about sour grapes instead.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
- "Sour grapes" is an idiom describing a situation where a person talks badly about something or dismisses it as unimportant because they cannot obtain it. Thus Angelina's comment to Draco implies he was putting Ron down because he was jealous.
