The Greenhouse Charm (Celescere) was a charm that helped the growth of plant-based potion ingredients in greenhouses.[1]
History[]
The Greenhouse Charm was created as the culmination of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force's research into the Gemino Curse and Herbivicus Charm. The Herbologist Neville Longbottom later provided improvements to the incantation and stance used when casting it. A Calamity Investigator working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force also discovered that moisture and general weather conditions could affect the duration of the charm.[1]
The charm was taught to the Statute of Secrecy Task Force to help them with the Calamity.[1]
Etymology[]
Celescere is possibly a portmanteau of two words, celerare[2] (Latin for "to quicken or accelerate") and crescere[3] ("to thrive; to multiply" in Latin, and "to grow or cultivate" in Italian). Put together, the resulting incantation can mean to grow (plants) quickly, or to accelerate the growth of the plants, much like the effect of the Herbivicus Charm.
