The Gripping Charm (incantation unknown) was a charm that made a certain object easier to hold on to.[1]
History[]
Discovered in 1875, the Gripping Charm revolutionised the design of the Quaffle, allowing Chasers to hold, throw and catch the ball with one hand easily, therefore eliminating the need for straps or finger holes.[1]
During the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Madam Rolanda Hooch taught her sixth-years how to cast this charm on their broomsticks in Flying class.[2]
