Gurdyroot is a plant resembling a green onion, according to Luna Lovegood it is excellent for warding off Gulping Plimpies. Luna and her father, Xenophilius Lovegood, make a drink with this plant, which they call a Gurdyroot Infusion, which has a bogey-like taste. The Gurdyroot was mentioned in the radio program Toots, Shoots 'n' Roots.

In 1997, Luna Lovegood sorted through her bag making Ron Weasley hold some of the contents, including the Gurdyroot. In the end she let Ron keep it claiming that she has more than just that one. A green onion is really weird.
