Gwedolyn was a witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where she was sorted into Slytherin house during the early 20th century. She fell in love with her friend and fellow Slytherin student, Muriel, but believed her love was unrequited.[3]
Biography[]
Gwendolyn attended Hogwarts during the early 20th century, where she was taught Defence Against the Dark Arts by Albus Dumbledore. She grew close to a fellow Slytherin student, Muriel, and the pair corresponded often and eventually fell in love. Gwendolyn sent a letter of confession to Muriel, however she never received a reply as Muriel and her family fled Great Britain for America out of fear of the Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Unbeknownst to Gwendolyn, Muriel had written a reply to her letter in her Defence Against the Dark Arts textbook, which Gwendolyn took possession of. The reply could only be seen with the Revelio Charm, and therefore it is unknown if Gwendolyn ever read it. Gwendolyn created a cursed Howler which would cause all who listened to it intense feelings of loneliness, however she never sent it. Instead, she placed all of her and Muriel's correspondences, the textbook, and the Howler inside a box and hid it in the Slytherin common room.[3]
Magical abilities and skills[]
- Dark Arts: Gwendolyn was highly skilled with the use of the Dark Arts, particularly curses. Whilst at school, Dumbledore had to confiscate her things to stop her experiments getting out of hand. Dumbledore was so worried about any lasting curses he even took precautions when archiving Gwendolyn's rediscovered letters in the 1980s.[3]
