Gwendolyn Morgan was a witch who played Quidditch for the Holyhead Harpies, and was the team Captain in 1953. Following a seven day match against the German team Heidelberg Harriers in 1953, the Harriers Captain, Rudolf Brand, proposed marriage to her. She promptly concussed him with her Cleansweep Five.[1]

Etymology

The name "Gwendolyn" means "white ring", derived from the Welsh elements gwen "white, fair, blessed" and dolen "ring". This was the name of a mythical queen of the Britons who defeated her husband in battle, as told by Geoffrey of Monmouth.
