Gwydion Idris was a wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the early 19th century.[1]

Biography[]

Born in the early 19th century, Gwydion displayed extraordinary magical abilities in his youth. When he began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he was sorted into Slytherin House. He was not afraid to cross some lines to study magic, and attempted to break into the Restricted Section of the Library more than once. He was often able to get out of trouble due to his natural charisma.[2]

In his fourth year, Gwydion witnessed a third-year student called Simon Talmadge being threatened by a bully named Mabel[4] with the Pimple Jinx. Gwydion cast the Inflating Charm on Mabel before she could jinx Simon, rendering her unable to talk. Simon was so speechless to see someone stand up for him against bullies, and he began to hang out with him, developing a crush on Gwydion.[1]

They also befriended the portrait of Gossamer, and co-founded a secret club based in some hidden rooms behind a Welsh oil painting, intending to make it a haven away from bullies and prejudice. They used the Levitation Charm to bring in furnitures bought from Hogsmeade, and were joined by the house-elf Cosa who helped them furnish the space. The club soon welcomed more members including Jessamine and Mnemosyne, and while at the club, Gwydion focused on experimenting with magical artefacts.[1] He once transfigured their long table into a horse.[5]

Gwydion was 17 when Simon died.[2] After his passing, Gwydion disappeared from public view and their dream of making a safe haven out of their room faded into obscurity.[5]
