Hadrian Whittle was a wizard, Herbologist and the author of Magical Water Plants of the Highland Lochs.[1]
Behind the scenes
- This character may have been named after Hadrian Whittle, a British garden designer who has worked with Filmscapes,[2] a company which did landscaping work for the first five Harry Potter films.[3]
- Whittle possibly wrote Magical Water Plants of the Mediterranean after the popular Magical Water Plants of the Highland Lochs.
Etymology
The name "Hadrian" comes from the Roman cognomen Hadrianus, which meant "from Hadria" in Latin. Hadria was a town in northern Italy (it gave its name to the Adriatic Sea). A famous bearer of the name was Publius Aelius Hadrianus, better known as Hadrian, a 2nd-century Roman emperor who built a wall across northern Britain.
Appearances
