- — Gilderoy Lockhart, regarding the Defence Against the Dark Arts Second Year Essential Knowledge Test[src]
Hair care potions were potions which were used for styling of one's hair.[1]
History[]
Gilderoy Lockhart wrote that his greatest ambition to rid the world of evil and market his own line of these potions.[1] He had created his own potion based on Occamy eggs that was genuinely beneficial (unlike many of his claimed achievements). However, the ingredients were too expensive and dangerous to obtain for it to be commercially viable.[2][3]
In 1994, Hermione Granger used liberal amounts of Sleekeazy's Hair Potion to prepare for the Yule Ball, which she attended with Viktor Krum, the Durmstrang champion for the Triwizard Tournament. It greatly tamed her naturally bushy hair, although she later told Harry Potter that she considered it too much trouble to use every day.[4]
