- "The victim, Hamish Steed, was under Ministry protection at the time of Flannery's murderous rampage. After several hours of interrogation, Flannery admitted that he used an ancient spell to track down his greatest desire - which happened to be the location of the late Steed"
- — The Daily Prophet[src]
Hamish Steed was a wizard who was murdered in 1783 by Flannery on a murderous rampage. Even though Steed was under the protection of the Ministry of Magic at the time, the Daily Prophet reported Flannery had used an ancient spell to track him down.[1]
Sage Bragnam thought this story was implausible and that the Daily Prophet's report was a product of exaggeration.[1] However, it seems that Grim Fawley drew inspiration from this report to find his missing wife.
