This letter was written by Harry Potter to his godfather, Sirius Black, on 22 January 1995. The letter detailed the events of the previous night. Therefore it told Sirius of how Barty Crouch appeared on the Marauder's Map in Severus Snape's storeroom, and Harry's encounter with Alastor Moody, Snape and Argus Filch on the staircase. However, in the excitement of the encounter, Harry had forgotten to write about what he discovered about the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament, so when Sirius sent his response, he was unable to offer any help.
Response[]
Sirius, in response to this letter, sent a letter of his own, simply saying "Send date of next Hogsmeade weekend by return owl."[2]
