User:RedWizard98 mini-modding

RedWizard98 acts like a moderator despite several users (e.g. Oerk, AppFroggy) asking him to not do that (See: "Your attitude", "A question", "Stop removing our edits"). He basically deletes almost all edits people do. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RogueOwner (talkcontribs).

I noticed in the last request for administrator attention you mentioned his repeated use of insults towards other editors. Can you please direct me to those? (Also, please be sure to sign your messages :) Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 19:32, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

Oerk talked about it on DarkWiard98's talk page. --RogueOwner (talk) 19:50, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

That message from Oerk was posted in May 2019. RedWizard has already received blocks for that. There is no point in blocking him for something he has already been blocked for. Sirius (talk) 19:58, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

I'm sorry but is spiteful and ridiculous, and borders on bullying. I have already been blocked for using some unpleasant language in the past which I have learned from immensely and have not used since. Informing people about wiki policies is not wrong in the slightest, it is polite, well-meaning and helps people mutually understand things. --RedWizard98 (talk) 20:02, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

You cleary have learned nothing since you got told about it again on June 8, 2020. --RogueOwner (talk) 20:15, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

This is why I am asking for clarifications on which conversations were being referenced. However, RedWizard you also know better than to edit other people's messages like you just did here, regardless of how benign you think the edit is. RogueOwner - please let me know if there are recent conversations that need administrator attention. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 20:19, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

What messages have I edited since? I don't edit other people's talk page messages. --RedWizard98 (talk) 20:26, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

I think this whole situation is so bizarre over something which is not an issue. I have never resorted to foul language so I think this whole accusation is bogus. What I have done in the past which I do regret, I have been blocked for, so such comments from last year no longer apply, since I have stopped it.--RedWizard98 (talk) 20:29, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

In this edit you corrected the spelling in MrSiriusBlack's post. You've been warned in the past about correcting other people's posts to fit your expectations, so I would hope you would be extra careful about not doing it further. --Ironyak1 (talk) 20:30, June 22, 2020 (UTC)
That was a very minor spelling mistake which he accurately corrected. I understand that some people might take offence at others correcting the spelling in their posts, but I am okay with what he did just then to my post. Sirius (talk) 20:34, June 22, 2020 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if you are ok with it, users should not be editing other people's messages as a matter of policy. Unfortunately, this behavior was an ongoing issue with RedWizard, so while this edit specifically is rather benign his history of "my preferences should be respected" weighs heavily on such actions. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 20:41, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

I haven't said anything but I decided to say something. In the linked talk page messages, one is from May 2019, so I am ignoring that. The other two links are messages by User:AppFroggy so I will address this user's concerns. In the two instances by AppFroggy, I decided to dive into the editor's edits to search merit.

  1. 1 The account AppFroggy is blocked globally. That's a staff block and only occurs due to Terms of Use violations.
  2. 2 A few acts of blatant vandalism, specifically, this edit, and this edit,
  3. 3 this edit is repetitive.
  4. 4 this edit was wrong It was her fifth year in fall of 1994, not spring of 1994.
  5. 5 This edit is more based on speculation than actual stated canon material in the books. Same with this edit. More speculation/non-canon than actual canon. It was hinted that they want to see each other again but not.

Overall, I checked the entirety of the article edits by AppyFroggy before her initial message to RedWizard on 8 June. All were correctly reverted by Redwizard98. In conclusion, all but one edit (her initial edit) are disruptive and non-constructive. MechQueste 20:45, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

User:SWLover2

I'm a little bit concerned about this user's willingness to rename pages without consulting anyone. It basically says here not to do that, and Category talk:Candidates for renaming and its associated template exist for a reason.

She also tagged the redirect left behind by her most recent page move for deletion for being 'unneeded', despite the number of pages that link to that redirect. We have enough problems with Special:WantedPages at the moment.

She also carried out some dubious category removal today, which has all had to be reverted as well. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  21:09, July 6, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I think this editor does mean very well, just perhaps that she has made some very good faith edits that we others have disagreed with. I definitely don't think this editor is a problem user, although there may be a few minor issues that need fixing. Overall, I think this user comes across as very pleasant, well-intentioned and trustworthy. --RedWizard98 (talk) 21:12, July 6, 2020 (UTC)

Hi all - I see the edits were reversed and there doesn't seem to be any more related activity. In general it usually helps to check in with the user on their talk page to understand their reasoning for the change. I appreciate the heads-up on the concerns, but nothing to really administrate about currently.
@MrSiriusBlack - I saw that redirect delete request as well. There is something unclear going on as lots of items showing up in WhatLinksHere, but can't actually find the info in those pages or related templates. Seems like pages/templates need to be purged and rendered again or something. Anyhow just waiting to see if WhatLinksHere resolves itself or not before proceeding. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 22:19, July 6, 2020 (UTC)
I know I could've and probably should've directly talked to her about it on her talk page, but I thought it might have sounded better coming from an admin, & also I wanted to know what an admin thought about it. That's what this page is for, after all. -  MrSiriusBlack

Image deletions and file renames

Why aren't poorly titled images being renamed, and poor quality images being deleted? Seen as though we seem to have agreed how to properly rename image files, shouldn't there be an effort to start renaming those that need renaming? Furthermore, they are lots of images in the deletion bin, many have been there for a long time, that are not being deleted, despite not meeting image policy standards or for being duplicates? --RedWizard98 (talk) 00:44, July 15, 2020 (UTC)

I think the focus right now is fixing the problem caused by mass renaming without redirects; it's a slow process, for starters, people who aren't involved don't really know how/why the renamed files were selected, and the people involved were understandably busy with RL. The few ways to check what still needs to be fixed include checking specific logs; doing new renames would add more to those logs, so it has been put to the side until the cleanup is done. I haven't checked what you've tagged, but heads up, if any of them appears on Forum:Treatment for similar images, renaming them now would kind of be redundant work, since they are likely going to be merged with other files, and that process includes move/rename. That particular task was put aside because at the time, a User basically kept on uploading similar .gifs, sometimes right after a merge was done. It was stressful, hence a break lol. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 00:55, July 15, 2020 (UTC)

User:Aarongoldman2008

User is uploading mendacious fan-fiction and practising edit warring; Amycus Carrow is not shown in LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 to have a Voldemort boggart, simply because boggarts don't even play a role in this game unlike the first one. This statement is a lie and anyone who thinks it is true or even possibly true based on this utter lack of evidence is mistaken indeed.--RedWizard98 (talk) 02:14, July 17, 2020 (UTC)

Report rubbish pages

These two pages are completely nonsensical and I can't believe nobody has deleted them yet (Harry potter full characters by book and Draco is a werewolf). --RedWizard98 (talk) 23:06, July 19, 2020 (UTC)

Duplicate category

This category (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Minister_for_Magic_and_Support_Staff) as noted by Mr Sirius Black is a mistaken duplicate of that already exists, so it needs speedily deleting; this is being specifically raised here due to the genuine lack of deletions being performed currently.--RedWizard98 (talk) 14:55, July 30, 2020 (UTC)

Why does it need "speedily deleting"? What makes it a priority over any other suggested deletion? It's an empty category (and now deleted) so trying to understand what the reasoning is here. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:25, August 2, 2020 (UTC)

User:Delphibellatrix

This user has created two similar pages which are clearly blog-like posts in the main namespace, THE CARROWS and The carrow siblings, which have been flagged for deletion. Putting this here in case the delete tag gets removed again. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  21:35, July 30, 2020 (UTC)

They were already deleted. I have de-linked them. MechQueste 23:14, July 30, 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for doing that --RedWizard98 (talk) 12:48, July 31, 2020 (UTC)
Unfortunately, not all the links to these pages were removed when deleted. When someone chooses to delete something please be sure to check Special:Whatlinkshere and the Page History, as instructed on the {{delete}} template, to make sure all links to the item are resolved. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 18:06, July 31, 2020 (UTC)

User:Rainimator505

This user has completely copied information from the admin Harry Granger's profile page, including several awards that they have not earned (Order of Merlin, Harry Potter Fanatic, Prefect and Administrator status). Perhaps an admin should remove them, since I know it is generally not allowed for users to edit the profile pages of other users.--RedWizard98 (talk) 12:48, July 31, 2020 (UTC)

List of spells used by Harry Potter

This article linked above I think is of inadequate quality and needs either reviewing and/or deleting, and this article (List of known incantations by first mention) I also really don't think seems necessary since each individual spell article already lists its first appearance and/or mention. Thanks --RedWizard98 (talk) 23:35, July 31, 2020 (UTC)

Albus Potter name origin

This article (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Albus_Potter_name_origin) contains information all of which is found under the etymology section of Albus Potter's article, so it needs deleting. In fact, the same user User:PragyaChaudhary has created this same article three times for some reason. All three articles also contain fanon. --RedWizard98 (talk) 16:48, August 4, 2020 (UTC)

User:Delphibellatrix

User is endlessly uploading fanon content to Delphini's article with zero regard for our canon policy, and does seem to be listening to any of our concerns over her edits. User has also blanked her talk page, removing other people's messages. --RedWizard98 (talk) 14:54, August 5, 2020 (UTC)

Muggle Prime Minister

This article (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Muggle_Prime_Minister) is a duplicated article created today that needs deleting ASAP. I have a feeling this was created as a joke as well. --RedWizard98 (talk) 17:24, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

Hello all, Kirkburn has since turned this into a re-direct, so please ignore this message. --RedWizard98 (talk) 17:36, August 13, 2020 (UTC)
Within 10 minutes of the page creation you contacted Staff about a couple sentence article? Does this really seem like something that should be treated like an emergency that needs Staff attention? --Ironyak1 (talk) 02:51, August 16, 2020 (UTC)

User:Aliosmanv

This user is continuing to insert nonsensical names into articles with no regard for our canon policy. This is either vandalism or fan-fiction. --RedWizard98 (talk) 17:36, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

User has 5 edits spread across 2 months, with warnings for their missteps - what are you requesting to be done? --Ironyak1 (talk) 03:46, August 16, 2020 (UTC)

Years 2020A, 2020B, 2020C, 2020D?

Are these articles for real, or are they some kind of joke? Their creator User:Beverlyjones has published fanon before so I am totally unconvinced this is genuine content. --RedWizard98 (talk) 15:32, August 14, 2020 (UTC)

J. K. Rowling's article

I know this wiki needs to be open to new ideas and editing, but ever since Rowling has embroiled herself in controversial topics on Twitter her page has been vandalised numerous times, often with people expressing strongly personal and political views about her, all of them highly negative in nature. People can of course have these opinions, but we are strictly a factual wiki so I do not believe this content is really welcome here. I think her article should be considered for some of protection to ensure that vandals can't damage her article; perhaps only let established accounts edit it. --RedWizard98 (talk) 14:31, August 24, 2020 (UTC)

Fanon

I intend on putting forth a proposal to revise the fanon policy so that it explicitly bans fanon of all kinds on any place on the wiki. The Current policy allows on page in the userspace, but the proposed version I will propose will reduce that to 0 in favour of the Harry Potter Fanon. MechQueste 22:10, August 25, 2020 (UTC)

The trouble with that approach is that Discussions has an entire category for "Fanfics and Roleplays" - the Roleplays in particular are quite active and popular and were voted-in for allowing them by the community. Some people store their RP character(s) on the User page or a subpage or their related fanon info. What is the argument against allowing this single page that supports users in related activities here? Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 22:24, August 25, 2020 (UTC)

User:Beverlyjones

I am sure this user means well, but they are continually inserting far too much fan-fiction into articles, which is also highly irreverent in nature and has no basis in HP official canon. --RedWizard98 (talk) 16:38, August 28, 2020 (UTC)

Harry (Goblet of Fire)

The Ground Beneath Her Feet

As our wiki usually does not allow for the publishing of fan-fiction articles (as they are not official pieces of franchise material), should this article be subsequently be deleted in accordance with our policy? --RedWizard98 (talk) 22:02, September 13, 2020 (UTC)

Not sure if you are aware of this, but coverage on fan fics are allowed, for example: James Potter (series) and Draco Trilogy. The page in question seemed structured alright, and as long as that's the entirety of it, it should be fine? --Sammm✦✧(talk) 01:44, September 14, 2020 (UTC)
I was looking at this article and the referenced fan-fiction and it really seems to be right on the border of the Harry Potter Wiki:Notability guidelines. It definitely got a fair amount of attention and reviews in various circles, but never quite the media attention of an item like the James Potter (series); however, I may just have missed some articles as it shares a name with both a Salman Rushdie novel and the related song by U2. If someone could find some wider media references for this story, I think that would better help establish it as duly notable. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 03:48, September 14, 2020 (UTC)

User:Golden-White True Total Oneness‎

Not entirely sure of how to make of this User; so far the "contributions" on Wandlore, Dark Lord, and Ronald Weasley don't look positive as there's no explanation of the removal whatsoever. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 08:21, September 16, 2020 (UTC)

The User continues blanking pages after being warned. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 01:12, September 17, 2020 (UTC)

Wiggenweld Potion Cauldron

I don't think this article qualifies as being notable or in-universe. I don't think these cauldrons are anything special; they are just generic cauldrons in the games. This article is also written in an out of universe fashion.--RedWizard98 (talk) 20:16, September 19, 2020 (UTC)

User:Rodolphus, thank you for addressing this issue.--RedWizard98 (talk) 21:35, September 21, 2020 (UTC)

The Silver Trio

User:Kmax12649

User is choosing to largely ignore our British English only policy and is repeatedly changing the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (film) title to say the "Sorcerer's Stone", a title we explicitly do not use on this wiki. This user has been blocked across fandom previously and has a history of ignoring and flouting our policies, I suspect to now simply cause a nuisance and disruption.--RedWizard98 (talk) 15:44, September 25, 2020 (UTC)

Broken Trading Card image

This Harry Potter Trading Card Game image here is broken - (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/File:Charms_TCG.jpg), however I believe it has not always been like this, as I edited the image file a while back. Can someone fix this? This looks utterly awful.--RedWizard98 (talk) 01:34, September 27, 2020 (UTC)

It's unclear what happened, so just uploaded a new version. Albeit slightly smaller than the original, it fixes the display issue for now until someone finds a larger resolution one or the original is somehow restored. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 02:52, September 27, 2020 (UTC)

User:Tjkippen1 & User:Daexelrights

Both these accounts are most definitely sock puppets of each other, and are repeatedly creating fanon without stopping, even after being asked to stop. I have reported them both to FANDOM central for likely sock-puppetry as well. They have also created a totally bogus template (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Hog_warts_RPP) which needs deleting, along with all their image uploads.--RedWizard98 (talk) 01:53, September 29, 2020 (UTC)

One user stopped before this, one given short term block, contributions from both deleted. Will leave open in case there is additional follow-up needed. --04:10, September 29, 2020 (UTC)
Good, I'm pleased to see.--RedWizard98 (talk) 04:55, September 29, 2020 (UTC)
Tjkippen1 created another template which is yet to be deleted. (I can't tag it for deletion properly because attempts to edit it takes me to Special:InfoboxBuilder instead of ?action=edit.) -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  12:11, September 29, 2020 (UTC)

User:Wizard No 2956

This user repeatedly is adding highly speculative and biased assessments to Gellert Grindelwald's article about his abilities in comparision to Voldemort, and even altering a quotation to suit this opinion. The latter is vandalism and this needs to politely stop.--RedWizard98 (talk) 05:14, September 30, 2020 (UTC)

Another round of permissions for Bot

I know it is kind of early but, I do plan on submitting another request for bot, as I have a clear set of goals I want to accomplish. For the template {{HM}} and {{WU}}, I have edited them to transclude the categories Category:Images from Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and Category:Images from Harry Potter: Wizards Unite respectively. This is repetitive from the existing categories that are on the file page specifically. As a result, I want to remove the manual addition to them from the file pages. MechQueste 21:04, September 30, 2020 (UTC)

Although I'm not an admin, I would fully support the above.--RedWizard98 (talk) 21:05, September 30, 2020 (UTC)
As noted on Forum:Policy Review, the Bot Policy is pending review so that will have to happen before new related requests are made. It'll be best to clarify and find community consensus about Help:Bots and Harry_Potter_Wiki:Multiple_accounts#Bots before going through another request for such permissions. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 23:33, September 30, 2020 (UTC)
yes, after the policy reviews. MechQueste 00:27, October 1, 2020 (UTC)
I would like to ask another question, when are these policy reviews expected to finish? They seem to have been going on for a very long time by now, so surely there is a date for their conclusion so other things on the wiki can go forward?--RedWizard98 (talk) 00:37, October 1, 2020 (UTC)
Unfortunately, it's hard to put a definite timeline on it as much of it depends on how much time it takes for people to reply and for questions to be resolved. When proposals are made but questions about them are left unanswered for several days (or forever) it makes it difficult to make timely progress. More than likely future Policy proposals will have a more strict timeline enforced to keep these delays from being allowed to compound, but there are still several Policy areas to review. What "other things on the wiki" can't go forward currently? Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 00:51, October 1, 2020 (UTC)

User:J123666776*6777

This user seems to think absurd and ill-informed acts of vandalism on articles is amusing, and has created this nonsensical and beyond poor quality article here (Drumstrung), which they seem to think is worthy of inclusion. I think otherwise.--RedWizard98 (talk) 13:06, October 1, 2020 (UTC)

User:Wizard No 2956

As you can see on Gellert Grindelwald's talk page, this user has without explanation completely deleted a huge post written by User:Freddy1428 as part of an ongoing discussion. This seems like a very malicious and disrespectful way to treat others in discussion. Furthermore, this user has also previously vandalised Grindelwald's article by altering a book quotation to suit their own opinion.--RedWizard98 (talk) 18:45, October 1, 2020 (UTC)

User:AustinCookies contributions

I think I need a second pair of eyes looking at his contributions. His edits are not that great as they consist of examples of adding "(age 34)" for the Phelps twins, and etc. I told him that it is not necessary that the content is added and would require yearly edits to the page to update that. MechQueste 20:46, October 3, 2020 (UTC)

Confused. Was it stated anywhere that the age shouldn't be listed? Just because it wasn't previously there, doesn't automatically mean they are forbidden? Some people aren't good with calculation, it doesn't hurt to have the info readily provided? Albeit there's probably smarter ways to do it. Dunno. Yearly edits in retrospect isn't so bad, comparing to some other kinds of edits happening here on HPW. Just saying. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 00:05, October 4, 2020 (UTC)

For real world people, maybe it might be a good idea to introduce a DOB template that automatically changes each year, like on Wikipedia.--RedWizard98 (talk) 00:13, October 4, 2020 (UTC)

As noted, given the perpetual past-tense for in-universe articles, there can't really be a current date by which to calculate a character's current age. However, for real-world people, there is nothing preventing or requiring their current age be listed. This is probably worth discussing more during the review of the Harry Potter Wiki:Layout guide to create some standards for out of universe articles and adding the necessary template to automatically calculate the age if needed. There looks to be a few choices, but probably worth waiting to see what works with UCP as that update appears to be less than a month away now. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:56, October 4, 2020 (UTC)
Didn't realize the User was also doing this to in-universe characters (when I glimpsed, it was most OOU ones;) agreed about potential templates mentioned above and about waiting for further discussion. That said, can it be noted for people to not spend time on reverting OOU ones that are being added? Yes, there's better ways to do it, but no, those edits don't have to go. Spending time reverting them is taking extra space in RecentChanges and all. That's just my opinion though.
--Sammm✦✧(talk) 18:11, October 4, 2020 (UTC)
not sure if it is relevant but the user is blocked across the Fandom network. Aside from that, we could create a template that automatically updated for OOU pages? Perhaps an import from Wikipedia? That being said, I looked at 3 major wikis, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Doctor Who, and they do not use templates to auto-update ages to say current age. Not saying we need to remove them but it would require yearly edits to update them if kept, outside a template..MechQueste 23:54, October 4, 2020 (UTC)

If anyone cares, I imported multiple templates from another wiki that atomatically updates age. {{Born}} can be used. MechQueste 03:16, October 12, 2020 (UTC)

As there would be many pages affected by the deployment of these templates, please start a Forum topic to discuss this change and see what other think before applying to them articles. The changes on Daniele Hugues resulted in parentheses for awhile and then a change is which parts of the date where linked or not. Best to find some agreement on the benefits / drawbacks to such extensive changes before implementing. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 04:08, October 12, 2020 (UTC)

Unidentified portrait in Malfoy Manor (III)

Whilst reviewing articles, I was quite alarmed when I encountered this article. It contains no article summary, which is rather odd, has no listed canon appearances and also has no references. I believe there is a chance this article may be a piece of self-created fan-fiction given its lack of verified information. The image which is used on this article also has no source or copyright information. Could someone look into this and see if it is genuine or not? If it is, remove the deletion tag and improve the article quality. Thank you--RedWizard98 (talk) 00:16, October 9, 2020 (UTC)

I myself have never played Wonderbook: Book of Spells so I do not know if the information provided in the article is official or not, as it has no references provided or listed appearances. This does require fixing.--RedWizard98 (talk) 04:51, October 13, 2020 (UTC)

User:RedWizard98 about my ban

At User_talk:RogueOwner#Image_uploads RedWizard98 claims that the reason I was banned was because I have abused multiple accounts. There's absolutely no way he could known why I was banned. --RogueOwner (talk) 16:45, October 13, 2020 (UTC)

Your reasons for why you got blocked by Fandom (not this wiki) I am not exactly aware of, and it does not concern me or anyone else. Fandom would have blocked you for something, which is something I have no control of. Perhaps it would be best if you spoke to Fandom central about this and let the issue rest, as your block has now expired. Kind regards --RedWizard98 (talk) 19:09, October 13, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, it appears your block was initiated by Fandom, as RedWizard had stated. The admins have no control over global blocks. Please contact Fandom support for your concerns on your block.—TIMESHADE |Talk/Wall| - |C| 19:23, October 13, 2020 (UTC)

RogueOwner's complaint appears legitimate as RedWizard98 accused that RogueOwner's "account was found to have been responsible for abusing accounts" and that "this user was carrying out some form of online abuse and deception, so mine and other people's suspicions were correct after all weren't they." There is no reason to engage in speculation disparaging a user and their reputation as the facts are not publicly known or confirmable. Whatever the reason for the block, it is now over, so the user is welcomed back and is to be treated fairly by everyone. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 19:30, October 13, 2020 (UTC)

Staff member Kirkburn has left a message regarding this.--RedWizard98 (talk) 01:08, October 14, 2020 (UTC)
You still don't seem to get why I'm complaining about you. --RogueOwner (talk) 09:36, October 14, 2020 (UTC)
This case has been resolved. Showing good will towards others is also recommended, not bitterness or spite.--RedWizard98 (talk) 22:58, October 14, 2020 (UTC)

User:Mariano Black

This user is changing articles from English into Spanish. This is not allowed as we are the English language HP wiki, not the Spanish HP wiki. I've also asked them not to do this on their talk page, but do not appear to be listening.--RedWizard98 (talk) 22:58, October 14, 2020 (UTC)

Category:Images of Porpentina Goldstein and Category:Images of Porpentina Scamander

As noted on Category talk:Images of Porpentina Goldstein, we seem to have somehow ended up with two different imagecats for the same person. I have no idea how or why this happened, but I think a category merging might be in order? -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  21:28, October 16, 2020 (UTC)

I think it has been asked before but it was kept separate for some reason. MechQueste 21:31, October 16, 2020 (UTC)

User:Precious_raine's userpage

This user page has a ton of links that are pointing to a dead wikipedia page. I was wondering, if any action is warranted. MechQueste 17:25, October 17, 2020 (UTC)

Replace welcome automated message with template

{{Welcome}} could replace the text on the welcome page MediaWiki:Welcome-message-user. It will reduced the number of future red-links to zero. MechQueste 22:51, October 18, 2020 (UTC)

Hidden categories

I've noticed lots of hidden categories are appearing at the ends of various articles. These categories are supposed to hidden from general viewing as they are entirely unnecessary - I've even noticed a few categories appearing that haven't even been created yet. I think this should be fixed, seen as though this wiki has now a brand new interface.RedWizard98 (talk) 18:41, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

You can double-check your "My Preferences - Appearance - Show hidden categories" setting to see if it is checked. If not, and you're still setting Hidden Categories, then you'll need to contact our wiki-manager TimeShade or Staff with this and other UCP upgrade related issues. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 18:46, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
Just checked my settings - 'show hidden categories' is definitely not checked, and yet I too am seeing all hidden categories in the category list at the bottom of the page. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  11:58, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

File:Placeholder

Likely as a result of the UCP migration, File:Placeholder no longer presents as an upload button on user pages. It now presents as a file redlink. Category:Pages with broken file links currently doesn't work, and the sheer amount of pages might be why - Special:WantedFiles puts the number of user pages with this redlink at well over twenty-two thousand. Would there be any practicality or feasibility to uploading an actual File:Placeholder? Like a non-image, a placeholder image, something like this (File:3A46D522-F79E-4488-A941-E64A7F47DFBB.jpeg)? It would certainly solve the whole issue in a one-er. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  19:46, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

The demise of Special:Chat

Well, UCP is here, and Special:Chat is no more. Is there a plan to delete the Harry Potter Wiki:Chat Moderators page and, I suppose, if there is no further purpose for the user right, remove the rights from the former chat mods? -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  19:46, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

Shattner was right and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Minecraft Part 1

Matthew Cooper?

This is either fanon, or an article that needs drastically improving to meet a suitable standard. I see no proof as to why this is a real character in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. RedWizard98 (talk) 20:17, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

de2 interwiki links

The interwiki links to one of the german Harry Potter Wikis, specifically the one prefixed with 'de2', aren't working as proper interwiki links at the bottom of pages for some reason. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  12:56, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

This has been brought up at https://harrypotter.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000001268370/r/4400000000006660041 ; IMHO, while not ascetically pleasing, at least it is functioning; pretty sure briefly de2s were actually rendered as red links. If there's a vote, I'm voting for it to be kept despite not fitting in with the rest. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 13:01, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

Sweater Weather

What really happened when Sirius went through the veil

This piece of nonsense fails to constitute a legitimate article, so needs deleting ASAP. RedWizard98 (talk) 08:16, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

User:Adamxmyrtle1

This user has not listened to past complaints about not uploading fanon to articles, as they have uploaded nonsensical fanon to the article of Ravenclaw's Diadem. Perhaps give them another block to adequately teach them about our policies.RedWizard98 (talk) 16:43, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

User:Beverlyjones

This user repeatedly uploads fanon/nonsensical content to this wiki. They have been told clearly not to upload fanon to this wiki in the past, but have chosen not to pay any attention. This recent absurd piece here (Charming Fortuna) was published today and needs deleting ASAP; I believe disclipinary action is now long overdue. They also published this completely nonsensical piece today called "Rumpel Stiltskin Jr" which also needs deleting; a block I believe is now needed for this poor display of behaviour. RedWizard98 (talk) 21:00, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

Just had to delete "Ebony Black", yet another fanon page by this user. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  22:36, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

This user's behaviour is beyond frustrating now. We've given them multiple kind warnings but they have not bothered to pay attention to any of them. Trying to inform them of this wiki's policies is very much like talking to a brick wall. Their kind of editing belongs on any of the HP Fanon Wikis, and we ignore their behaviour they will create more, and more, and even more fanon. They need to be blocked now for multiple policy violations so hopefully they can learn a proper lesson this time. If they aren't blocked then that would demonstrate very poor standards on this wiki. Also, because of the sheer extent of this behaviour, I have reported them to the Soap Wiki as well. RedWizard98 (talk) 22:51, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

User:JonathonCotter243

This user is continuing to upload entirely fictitious, self-invented fanon about Beauxbatons to articles. I reverted their fanon once, however they decided to audaciously add it again, despite me explaining it was wrong. I have also messaged them on their talk page about our canon policy, but they do not seem to be listening. RedWizard98 (talk) 23:41, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

Category renaming due to bad spelling

This image category (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Images_of_Unidentifed_Hogwarts_Employees) has a title which is badly spelt; I would recommend fixing it. RedWizard98 (talk) 08:02, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Is anyone going to change this or not? It has not been done yet. RedWizard98 (talk) 19:14, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Nonsense article

Someone should probably delete this (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Harry_potter_is_the_best), as it is utter nonsense. RedWizard98 (talk) 19:13, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Article duplication

Request for administrator/content moderator assistance - Fay Dunbar (and her "friend")

The girl who is said to be "Fay Dunbar" in both the Prisoner of Azkaban film and video game quite simply isn't confirmed to be this student, who is only said to be appear in the third (but not with a confirmed physical appearance) and sixth video game (two releases which many student characters seem to appear in only). It therefore, is inaccurate to attribute the dark haired Gryffindor girl in the third film as being her, because that girl and her friend are both unnamed characters and are portrayed by unnamed actresses. I have copied and saved quite a large portion of this article in a word document, which shall be used to create new articles for unidentified students. I would like some help and approval with this, as many image files will need renaming (as they aren't Fay, and there is only one image of Fay confirmed from the sixth game, so this cat could be deleted for size) and the image category for "Fay Dunbar's friend" will need renaming with all its file moving successfully too. In addition, the category "Fay Dunbar's possessions" will possibly need renaming or deleting (along with all its files, considering they would be no longer be notable in the slightest), if we conclude that the girl in the girl's dormitory is not her. I would appreciate some help with this, thank you. RedWizard98 (talk) 14:14, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

User:Berkausdestroyer2

Please can an administrator put a quick stop to this user's bad editing behaviour with a speedy block, as they are creating multiple joke/empty articles with no regard for our policies; they are evidently writing these articles for prank purposes only. Stop this ridiculousness immediately. RedWizard98 (talk) 21:52, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

User:Thespyinyoface

This user isn't a vandal exactly, but their use of spelling and grammar in articles is really poor and is damaging articles, and they are adding unsourced/unreferenced information to articles, although I have asked them politely to fix these issues. RedWizard98 (talk) 19:15, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Fanon alert!

This page (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Last_glimps) is yet more nonsensical and bizarre fanon which has no place on this wiki, and belongs simply in the deletion log. 04:41, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
