The Head Curator was a subordinate official within the hierarchy of the British Ministry of Magic. Employed in the Department of Magical Artefacts, the occupant of this position served the role of chief custodian of the items that were being stored and studied in the department, and had the overall responsibility of preserving and protecting them. They also presumably had some supervisory duties over the other curators that were employed there.[1]
