The Head Curse-Breaker was a high-ranking position at Gringotts Wizarding Bank,[1] denoting the witch or wizard of the highest degree of seniority over the other Curse-Breakers, who presumably was involved in the employment and supervision of the other Curse-Breakers and oversaw the operations carried out by other Curse-Breakers. Not merely an administrative position, however, the Head Curse-Breaker also appeared to do some curse-breaking of their own.[2]
History[]
At some point before the 1890s, Head Curse-Breaker Grilco Wuthering sent a pair of Curse-Breakers, Photine and Thana, to recover the treasure of one of their client buried in a cursed tomb in the Highlands. However, Photine discovered that Thana was keeping parts of the treasures they recovered for Gringotts during the mission and was subsequently killed by the Inferi created by her partner.[3]
As of 1987, the position was held by Patricia Rakepick.[1] It is unknown who became the Head Curse-Breaker after Patricia Rakepick became the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
