The Head of Hufflepuff house is a professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with the special obligation of looking after the students of their house: Hufflepuff. It is unknown how a professor would be elected for the post, but it's most likely that the headmaster chooses the professor whom embodies all the qualities Helga Hufflepuff herself had; loyalty, kindness, generosity, etc.

To give the Hufflepuff Quidditch team permission to practice.

Special duties in the History of Hogwarts

The following are special duties that were performed by the Head of Hufflepuff in the past.

1992–1993 school year: to inform the Hufflepuff students of new rules regarding the opening of the Chamber of Secrets ^[1]
1993–1994 school year:to notify their students of the rules in regards to protecting them from Azkaban escapee, Sirius Black. ^[2]
1997–1998 school year: to round up their students prior to the Battle of Hogwarts. ^[3]

-  how to grow a ginger plant
-     Find and purchase a firm, fresh, healthy ginger root from a health food store or a regular grocery store.
-Step 2Cut a two inch piece of the ginger root. Stick wooden toothpicks in the root on both sides of it so that the toothpicks suspend the ginger root horizontally on the rim of a drinking glass.
-Step 3Fill the drinking glass with water until the root is submerged in the water about a third of the way up.
-Step 4Remove the ginger root from the glass when roots have sprouted and grown about an inch in length.
-Step 5Fill a pot that has the surface of at least four times the size of the root with a good quality, moist potting soil about three quarters of the way full. The pot must have drainage holes in the bottom.
-Step 6Place the root flat in the soil and cover it with about an inch of potting soil. Water the plant regularly without saturating the soil.
-Step 7Place your plant in a sunny place. When the root begins to sprout, move it to an area that gets a lot of indirect sunlight.
