Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall, were once heads of Transfiguration at Hogwarts
The Head of Transfiguration is the title given to the teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in charge of the school's Transfiguration department, meaning that they are the Professor in said subject who enjoys the highest degree of seniority over other transfiguration professors and presumably the one setting up the curriculum.[1]
Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall[2] both headed the Transfiguration department prior to their stewardship of the school.
