This Hebridean Black lived in the Magical Creatures Reserve in the 1980s.

Biography

In the 1980s, Jacob's sibling would often bond with and feed this Hebridean Black.

The Hebridean Black was one of several members of the species cared for by Martin MacFusty and the MacFusty clan. However, the dragon was stolen by Lachlan MacKenzie and two other former members of the disbanded Scottish Quidditch team the Banchory Bangers, who were hoping to use the dragon as their mascot in order to return to glory. Upon discovering this, Martin MacFusty travelled to Hogwarts in order to ask Rubeus Hagrid for help, where he also met Jacob's sibling. Hagrid requested that Jacob's sibling help them track down and rescue the Hebridean Black, as they had had previous experiences with dragons. Upon learning that the Banchory Bangers had stolen the dragon, Jacob's sibling deduced that, as the dragon's massive size would make her near impossible to hide, the team must have hidden her in plain sight at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary, leading to Jacob's sibling and Hagrid travelling there in an attempt to rescue her.

Upon arriving at the sanctuary, Jacob's sibling and Hagrid successfully located the Hebridean Black and found Lachlan MacKenzie keeping an eye on the dragon. Upon confronting MacKenzie, they attempted to convince him to step aside and return the dragon for his own safety, but MacKenzie refused to back down, casting a spell at Jacob's sibling to knock them off their feet. In response, Jacob's sibling duelled MacKenzie and defeated him, leading to MacKenzie fleeing in retreat, swearing that he and his associates would return for the dragon. Fearing that the Hebridean Black wouldn't be safe as long as she remained in the sanctuary, Jacob's sibling attempted to approach the dragon in order to remove her from the area. However, the Hebridean Black was still rattled by this experience, leading to her retreating into a cave when Jacob's sibling approached. Hoping to get the dragon to trust them, Jacob's sibling suggested feeding the dragon a delicious meal, with Hagrid suggesting that they use venison, the favourite food of Hebridean Black dragons. Jacob's sibling therefore contacted Jae Kim and asked him to look in the Hogwarts kitchens for any venison that could be used to feed the dragon.

Upon arriving at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary, Jae revealed that, although he was unable to locate any venison, he did bring three potential replacement food items for the dragon: cucumber sandwiches, steaks, and treacle tarts. Deciding that steak was the most similar to venison, Jacob's sibling suggested feeding them to the dragon. After consuming several steaks, the dragon began to feel comfortable around Jacob's sibling, allowing them to lead her to the Training Grounds at Hogwarts, where she could be protected and cared for while Hagrid alerted Martin MacFusty that his dragon had been found and returned safely. Upon moving the dragon to Hogwarts, Jacob's sibling noticed that the dragon still seemed uneasy around them, so they called Charlie Weasley to help them figure out how to calm the dragon down. Upon learning of the events that had transpired, Charlie suggested that the dragon was still rattled from her kidnapping and was uncomfortable in an environment so vastly different from her home. He told Jacob's sibling that they should approach the dragon with confidence, make sure she knew they were her friend, and to always make sure she was aware of their presence. Eventually, the Hebridean Black finally began to feel more comfortable around Jacob's sibling, although they were still worried that the Banchory Bangers might return and try to capture her again. Knowing that the Bangers would likely outnumber them if they returned for the dragon, Charlie suggested that Jacob's sibling recruit Cedric Diggory to help them, as he was a skilled dueller and could thus help them defend the dragon.

Upon convincing Cedric to help them defend the dragon from the Banchory Bangers, Jacob's sibling and Cedric planned to utilise a combination of defensive Quidditch and duelling techniques to protect the dragon. However, upon returning to the Training Grounds, they found Charlie already in conflict with Lachlan MacKenzie and his two associates, who demanded that the trio hand the Hebridean Black over to them. Unable to convince the Bangers to retreat, Jacob's sibling, Charlie, and Cedric began to duel with MacKenzie and his associates, successfully managing to defeat them. Despite this, MacKenzie still refused to give up until the Hebridean Black roared one final time, scaring away MacKenzie's associates and, eventually, MacKenzie himself. At that moment, Hagrid returned, having contacted Martin MacFusty, who was now on his way over to retrieve his dragon. The dragon finally allowed Jacob's sibling to pet her, revealing that she had grown to care for Jacob's sibling as much as Jacob's sibling cared for her. Knowing that MacFusty would be arriving soon, Jacob's sibling and Hagrid spent their final moments with the Hebridean Black feeding her steaks on the Quidditch pitch until MacFusty arrived to reclaim his dragon. However, upon seeing the close bond that Jacob's sibling and the Hebridean Black had formed as a result of their time together, MacFusty requested that the dragon be allowed to remain at Hogwarts so that Jacob's sibling could continue to watch over her, to which Jacob's sibling and Hagrid agreed, allowing the dragon to move to her new home in the Magical Creatures Reserve.

Later, during the preparations for the Dragon Club's demonstration of their knowledge, Ludo Bagman received threatening messages from creditors in Knockturn Alley to whom he owed a debt. In an attempt to buy him some time to pay off his debts, he snuck into the Foggy Moor of the Magical Creatures Reserve and tried to steal a dragon egg for his creditors. However, he intruded into the territory of this Hebridean Black, which attacked him in order to defend her territory. Fortunately for Ludo, Jacob's sibling and Tulip Karasu had followed Ludo to the Magical Creatures Reserve, with the two successfully distracting this Hebridean Black by casting spells at her from hiding spots in the ruins on her territory for long enough for Ludo to flee. In the aftermath of the incident, this Hebridean Black calmed down and flew away, returning to her normal behaviour.

• The dragon's name, just like all creatures in the Magical Creatures Reserve, can be customised by the player. The dialogue of the quest will subsequently change according to the name determined by the player.
