Henbane is a poisonous plant with greenish yellow leaves. Its name literally translates as "hen killer". It has been used medicinally at some points in history, as it has anaesthetic qualities, alongside a number of other unpleasant side-effects.[1] An advertisement in the Daily Prophet once offered bouquets of henbane and belladonna, as well as potted mandrakes for sale.[2]
