The Herbology Award,[1] or Hogwarts Herbology Award,[2] was a trophy awarded to students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who were distinguished in the field of Herbology. The trophy was kept in the Trophy Room at Hogwarts Castle.[1]
History[]
The only known recipient of the award was Mirabel Garlick, who had a cup in her honour in her seventh year at Hogwarts. She later went on to become the school's Herbology professor in the late 19th century.[2]
Another cup was present in the Trophy Room by the 1994–1995 school year, but the identity of its recipient is unknown (assuming it was a different cup to Mirabel's).[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the trophy is stylised as the "Herbology Award", while Hogwarts Legacy names it as the "Hogwarts Herbology Award". Both trophies are based in the Trophy Room at Hogwarts Castle, and both are clearly Herbology subject awards. The reasons behind this name contradiction are unknown.
