Hippocrates Smethwyck was a British wizard and Healer at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. He was the healer-in-charge of the 'Dangerous' Dai Llewellyn Ward.[1]

After the British Ministry of Magic employee Arthur Weasley, was attacked when guarding the Department of Mysteries by Lord Voldemort's pet snake Nagini in the 18 December 1995, he was immediately sent to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for his injuries to be treated. At some point during his stay, in either late 1995 or early 1996, he successfully found the antidote for the highly poisonous venom which her fangs had infected him with, which healed Arthur Weasley's wounds, fully curing him and allowing him to return home.[1]

Magical abilities and skills

The name "Hippocrates" is the Latinized form of the Greek name ‘Ιπποκρατης (Hippokrates) which meant "horse power", derived from the elements ‘ιππος (hippos) "horse" and κρατος (kratos) "power". This was the name of a 5th-century BC Greek doctor who is known as the Father of Medicine.
