The common Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), or hippo, is a large, mostly herbivorous mammal in sub-Saharan Africa.[1]
In 1926, a highly nervous hippo at the New York Central Park Zoo was the target of affection for an Erumpent escaped from Newton Scamander's suitcase.[2]
In 1993, a Painting of a hippopotamus hung in the Grand Staircase of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[3]
In 1994, after seeing his son suffering from the effects of a Ton-Tongue Toffee, Vernon Dursley hurled several china ornaments at Arthur Weasley, all the while "bellowing like a wounded hippo."
