The History of the Dark Arts was a seminar ministered by the Auror Office concerning several unpleasant historical accounts about the development and practice of the Dark Arts in the wizarding world. It was held as part of the proscribed training programme undergone by those who successfully completed the stringent series of character and aptitude tests required to qualify for becoming an Auror-in-training.[1]
It was also part of the training offered to members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force in 2019 who sought to pursue a career as an Auror at a time when they were dealing with the consequences of the Calamity.[1]
