This Hodag lived in the Magical Creatures Reserve in the 1980s.[1]
Biography[]
In the 1980s or early 1990s, Jacob's sibling would often bond with and feed this Hodag.[1]
Rubeus Hagrid got this Hodag from a friend after it was terrorising their local Mooncalf herd. This Hodag wouldn't stop biting Hagrid and giving him problems. Hagrid tried to feed it special feed from Wisconsin, but it was always more interested in nipping at his fingers.[1]
Hagrid asked for Jacob's sibling help in befriending it and earning its trust. Jacob's sibling managed to tame it in the forest area of the Magical Creatures Reserve and took it back to Hagrid's Hut, after it tried eating Hagrid's coat. However, the Dark witch Corrine Cribb used Mooncalf Essence to lure the Hodag away into the Forest Grove of the Forbidden Forest, where she planned to steal it and take its horns, which were a valuable potion ingredient. Jacob's sibling confronted her in the forest where she revealed her nefarious plan to them, duelled them, was defeated, but she refused to give up the Hodag and Disapparated away with it.[1]
Jacob's sibling then went back to Hagrid outside his hut where he was talking with Holly Blackbird, an American witch employed by the Magical Congress of the United States of America, whose job was keeping Hodags secret from No-Majes in reserves. She told them both of Cribb's theft of the Hodag and she and Blackbird went back to the Magical Creatures Reserve to look for them. They found Cribb in the forest area, and Blackbird duelled and defeated her, incapacitating her properly, allowing them to retrieve the Hodag. Blackbird initially was against Jacob's sibling keeping the Hodag in the reserve and wanted to take it back to the Hodag reserve in Wisconsin, but she reconsidered and let them keep it there.[1]
