"...when he reached the bottom step that it occurred to him how very pleasant it would be to pass the vegetable patch on his walk to Hagrid's. It was not strictly on the way, but it seemed clear to Harry that this was a whim on which he should act, so he directed his feet immediately towards the vegetable patch."
Felix Felicis influencing Harry Potter to visit the patch[src]

Within the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, there was a vegetable patch (sometimes referred as vegetable gardens),[1] roughly between the Hogwarts greenhouses and Hogwarts Castle. After taking Felix Felicis, Harry Potter bumped into Horace Slughorn at the vegetable patch while travelling to Hagrid's Hut.[2] The Vegetable Patch sometimes flooded when it rained.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The handdrawn map of Hogwarts made by J. K. Rowling showing the patch behind the greenhouse

  • One of the firsts drawings by J. K. Rowling of the Hogwarts grounds showed the vegetable patch behind the greenhouses, but in the books is stated that the patch is between the castle and the greenhouses.[4][5] Whether this is an error of the author in the drawing is unknown.
