Holiday Blancmange was a kind of Blancmange, a dessert Severus Snape enjoyed during his youth. It used mistletoe berries, dirigible plums and cinnamon as its ingredients.[1]
History[]
Before Christmas in 1986, when Jacob's sibling helped out in the Three Broomsticks Inn, they came across Severus Snape, who seemed more solemn than usual. Upon inquiry, he shared that he missed the Holiday Blancmange he had enjoyed during his childhood, but no one in Hogsmeade appeared to be making it.[1]
Jacob's sibling and Charlie Weasley decided to give Snape a present to thank his work in taking care of Hogwarts and Charlie after he had fallen from a ladder when attempting to put a star on the top of the Christmas tree they were decorating.[2] They gathered ingredients, made him a Holiday Blancmange and gave it to him on Boxing Day.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
- It is odd how this dessert uses mistletoe berries as one of its ingredients, considering they were poisonous and thus unsafe to eat.[4]
