The hospital tower was one of the many towers of Hogwarts Castle which had a semi-ovular shape. It was located on one side of The Quad and was at the end of the hospital corridor which connected the Clock Tower to the rest of the castle. On the first floor of the tower was the Hospital Wing and school matron's office.[1]
There was also a staircase that led to the fourth-floor corridor and, by extension, to the Grand Staircase.[2] There was also a secret passage behind a bookshelf in the matron's office.[3] The Prefects' Bathroom was located on the fifth floor, just above the Hospital Wing.

Hospital Wing[]
The Hospital Wing at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was run by Madam Poppy Pomfrey. Students who suffered mishaps during the school year were sent or brought to the hospital wing for treatment. The hospital wing was well equipped to deal with all manner of magical and mundane injuries, from broken limbs to regrowing lost bones.
Only in the most severe cases were students sent to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for further treatment, such as when Katie Bell touched a cursed Opal Necklace in 1996.
Prefects' Bathroom[]
Hidden in the fifth door to the left was a statue of Boris the Bewildered. The door opened when given the correct password. There was large pool-like bath and many taps for different types of bubble baths and lotions. In one side of the room there were the stalls with toilets inside. Opposite of the toilets there was a large, swimming pool-like tub with faucets surrounding it. The faucets all ran differently-coloured water, bubbles, and foam. Looking at the tub, one would imagine it would take quite some time to fill, but it actually filled remarkably fast, considering its size.
Behind the scenes[]
- This tower first appears in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban along with the Clock Tower. However, the Hospital Wing appears in the previous two film adaptations meaning it would have been located in another part of the castle (possibly somewhere near the Chamber of Reception). The different set used for the first film supports this claim.
- Before this tower make its appearance, the place was occupied by an unknown tower.
