- "Drifting along in the sparkling current inside was a tiny, jewel-bright egg. As it rose in the jar it cracked open and a hummingbird emerged, which was carried to the very top of the jar, but as it fell on the draft, its feathers became bedraggled and damp again, and by the time it had been borne back to the bottom of the jar, it had been enclosed once more in its egg."
- — The hummingbird in the Bell Jar of Time[src]
The Hummingbird is a New World bird of the Trochilidae family.[5]
History[]
It was a known corporeal form of the Patronus Charm.[3][6]
A hummingbird was kept in the Time Room inside the Department of Mysteries in a Bell Jar of Time, which allowed it to die and be reborn on a neverending cycle.[2] On 18 June 1996 during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, the bird was released when a Death Eater fell into the Bell Jar.[4] The Bell Jar of Time and the bird in it became a Foundable during the Calamity of the 21st century.[1]
Lottie Turner's corporeal Patronus assumed the form of a hummingbird.[6]
