"I Cast a Spell on Father Christmas" was a traditional Christmas song in the wizarding world. It served as a tribute to Father Christmas as well as being a cautionary tale to young witches and wizards to warn them about the risks of casting spells when they were not absolutely certain of the proper incantation.
History[]
It was sometimes performed by the Frog Choir at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,[1][2] and assumingly sung in the homes of witches and wizards during Christmas times.
Lyrics[]
I cast a spell on Father Christmas
Hoped to make him see
That the "nice" and not the "naughty" list
Is where I ought to be!
I cast a spell on Father Christmas
But made him disappear!
Now I'm in trouble, no witch or Muggle
Will have Christmas this year!
Ho, ho, ho!
I cast a spell on Father Christmas
Sent him to the great beyond
I'll get laughed out of class
Unless I learn to use my wand!
I cast a spell on Father Christmas
But I had the wrong spellbook
So he disappeared from boots to beard
And now my Christmas goose is cooked!
(No broomstick in his stocking
No tasty Cauldron Cake
No brand new wizard's robes for him
He'll pay for his mistake!)
There must be an incantation
Some charm to help reverse
The spell I cast on Father Christmas
Things couldn't get worse!
I cast a spell on Father Christmas
Didn't do what was instructed
(Do what was instructed!)
Got to find Saint Nick and quick
Before my house points get deducted!
(House points deducted!)
So how I'll get that Father Christmas
Safe to the North Pole?
He'll fly just like a hippogriff
Granting every wizard's wish
He'll cross me off that "naughty" list
Don't want a stocking full of coal!
(He cast a spell on Father Christmas!)
Yeah!
